Meghalaya captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Punit Bisht set a world record against Mizoram in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy played at the Guru Nanak College Ground in Chennai on Wednesday (13 January). The 34-year-old Bisht, who came in to bat at No. 4, smashed an unbeaten 146 off 51 balls with the help of 6 fours and 17 sixes. In his innings, he scored 102 runs with 17 sixes alone.

Biggest innings at number 4

The unbeaten 146 runs scored by Puneet Bisht is the biggest innings in T20 history, batting at number 4 or below. Earlier this record was in the name of Dasun Shanaka of Sri Lanka. Shanaka scored an unbeaten 131 for Sinhalese Sports Club in 2016.


Daniel Christian of Australia scored 129 for Middlesex in 2014, batting at number 4.

This is the biggest innings played by a wicket-keeper batsman in T20 cricket. In this case, Puneeth overtook KL Rahul, who scored an unbeaten 131 in IPL 2020, playing for Kings XI Punjab.


Chris Gayle equaled

Puneet Bisht has reached the joint second position in terms of maximum sixes in a T20 inning. In this case, he equaled explosive batsman Chris Gayle from the West Indies. Gayle scored 17 sixes in the 2013 match against Pune Warriors.

He also holds the record for most sixes in a T20 innings for India. Earlier, Shreyas Iyer had hit 15 sixes during the innings of 147 runs played in the match against Sikkim in 2019.

Let me tell you that Puneet played cricket for the Delhi team with Indian captain Virat Kohli for a long time. The two made their T20 debut together in 2006.
